Our Story

Kenny Avery is a third generation member of the Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps and has been involved in Fife & Drum corps his whole life. He began drumming with the Deep River Juniors and eventually stepped in line with Stony Creek in 1996. Kenny is an active membe of his corps and in the Fife & Drum community.

Kenny’s passion for woodworking led him to begin working for the Cooperman Company in 2000 where he learned the craft and the technique of building, repairingand restoring rope tensioned drums. His attention to detail, work ethic and creativity are some of the reasons that people sought his services after Cooperman made their move to Vermont in 2006. For many years Kenny has been maintaining drums for corps such as; the Camden Continentials, Col John Chester, The Connecticut Blues, The Connecticut Patriots, and of course, The Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps.

During his time with Cooperman Kenny met his wife Amanda and together they are raising two beautiful children and carrying on the tradition of Fife & Drum as a famliy. His daughters, Maggie & Emma, are a driving force in his life. He hopes to instill a love and passion for Fife & Drum in themas they carry on the tradition as 4th generation performers.

Kenny started Avery Drum Company for his family and for the future of the Fife & Drum tradition. He has a pure talent for repairing, maintaining, and customizing drums and meticulously completes every drum as if it were his own.
